Apparently having a shoe collection is the new “IT” thing to do; it feels like every day we report that some celebrity or reality star wants an in with the fashion industry.  One such celebrity is Halle Berry, who is quickly becoming a woman of all trades. The actress slash Revlon spokeswoman teamed up with popular German retailer Deichmann Shoes to create her own line:  ’5th Avenue by Halle Berry’ collection.
Fitting for women her age (we mean that in the kindest way possible), the collection features fairly low heels and wedges, mixing comfort and style for the modern mom. Boasting 40 limited edition shoes, Berry is proud of the new baby in her life, her shoe line. In discussing her new endeavor she said,
“Shoes are a statement. They can be very sexy; they can say something about where you are in the day; they can say what your mood is; they give you a chance to accessorize. And I’m a girl that loves to change my shoes all the time. It’s an expression of who you are really. I’m a girl if I find a shoe that I really like I like to get them in all colours. I’m big on that.”
With the reasonable starting price of £29.99, budget savvy mothers are eagerly awaiting the UK launch in March.

The man can do no wrong — Karl Lagerfeld, the “king” of fashion, never fails to amaze us with his many styling and design talents (not to mention the 30 iPads he carries with him at all times). LagerÂfeld’s difÂfuÂsion line, Karl, launched January 25th and is sold exclusively online at Net-a-Porter.
Alike to his own personal style, the budget collection features black and white clothing and accessories retailing from $50 for a canvas tote to aprox. $1,000 for leather pieces. As to be expected, Karl’s trademark fingerless leather gloves make an appearance as do fabulous faux colors. Among the 70-piece collection are 8 pairs of shoes, from metallic sneakers to gladiator sandals, the footwear is simple yet impressive.
We can handle the trademark Karl profile on the tees and tanks, but what about the shoes?! Walking with the support of Lagerfeld on your soles would sure put a pep in our step (we’re just sayin…it’s suggestion for the next collection).

February is a month filled with love AND shoes with THREE (yes, three) footwear launches. Thanks to InStyle , we’ve marked our calendars and are making space in our shoe closets for some of our favorite brand launches and collaborations.
1. The t-shirt brand you already love, Splendid is making their mark this month in the footwear industry with a 30-piece shoe collection featuring flats, wedges, and espadrilles. All in all the perfect summer shoes to match your ultra soft Splendid tees.
2. One of our best selling brands, Toms, is expanding to eco-friendly ballet flats made from burlap, suede, and linen. Don’t worry, they are still following in their philanthropic footsteps, donating a pair for a pair.
3. If you happen to have $900 laying around this collaboration is for you (and we’re jealous). Manolo Blahnik is partnering with socially conscious designer M. Platmos for a sustainable shoe line. {More Information}

One blog post featuring Isabel Marant sneakers. Two blog posts featuring Isabel Marant sneakers. Three. Four…the features highlighting the infamous designer’s kicks are flowing in, so why not have DNA jump on board the sneaker train?!
Worn by both celebrities and bloggers, Isabel Marant is making her mark on the footwear community. Thirty-something Parisian Isabel Marant’s designs are a style not a trend – Spotting a gap in the market between the elaborate and inaccessible of the Paris catwalks, Marant caters to strong active young women. A mix of minimalist and bohemian, the designer makes clothing and accessories at affordable prices… that is if you consider $600 for invisible wedge sneakers “affordable”.

The animal instincts trend is not limited to leopard print and has expanded to include footwear in the form of animals. Unsure of how to work your favorite animals into your outfit? Look to Charlotte Olympia and Marc Jacobs for a game of cat and mouse that’s sure to inspire.
Prowl the urban jungle with red velvet Charlotte Olympia cat pumps or creep quietly in Marc Jacobs mouse flats. Both pairs add a youthful accent to any outfit without feeling too much like a costume *Cough Prada Spring ’12 Cough*.

The sun is blazing, the surf is raging, and ringing in your ear is the clanking sound of Jeffrey Campbell’s walking down the boardwalk. Venice Beach is the epicenter of the surf and skate culture, doused with hippies and hobos. With the sent of incence wafting through the air, the Jeffrey Campbell team shoots an homage to the City of Angeles — a city that is close to my heart.
While the Jeffrey Campbell Resort 2012 collection has already been released, we thought teasing you East Coasters with images of the California sun was a good idea. For those of you bundled up, scarf wrapped tightly around your neck, think of the West Coast babes having a love affair with Los Angeles.

While we covet designer brands like Burberry, our budgets don’t exact always match our taste (ok, so they NEVER do). Thank god for brands such as Jeffrey Campbell who save our footwear dreams from crumbling!
Don’t be confused with our other daily post about copyright infringement because there are some obvious differences between the $895 Burberry’s and the $199.99 Jeffrey Campbell’s:
One. The Burberry wedges only have one buckle (you’d think for more money, they’d have more buckles but hey what do we know?!)
Two. The cut of the ankle is different with the Burberry showing off more skin.. Ooo La La!
Three. The outsole and midsole of the Jeffrey Campbell wedges are flat.
Four. The price tag

According to the Los Angeles Times, on December 8 “Pantone announced that a shade of orange dubbed “tangerine tango” is set to take top honors as the 2012 color of the year, inheriting the crown from 2011′s reigning hue, honeysuckle.”
The color was chosen among the interior design and fashion community because of its enticing and exotic tang. The color is dramatic and refreshing but will pose a challenge to fashion lovers choosing to pair tangerine with other colors. Orange may be tricky to pull off but you have a whole year to perfect it before bubblicious blue or putrid pink take over the color heirarchy.

Wednesday the age-old issue of copyright infringement reared its ugly head again.  Derek Lam CEO Jan-Hendrik Schlottmann accused Ivanka Trump of “blantantly” copying their Ayami wedge shoe demanding that all of Trump’s Cadie wedges be pulled from shelves within seven days. Needless to say, the Trump team did not meet this accusation with smiles and hugs; Marc Fisher Footwear, the licensing company behind Ivanka Trump’s shoe line, has  since refused to cooperate.
Firing back with avengence, Marc Fisher reps told Women’s Wear Daily,”The Lam wedge sandals are of a popular design type that has been used by numerous manufacturers for many decades. There is nothing iconic about the appearance of the Lam sandal. The Ivanka Trump sandals prominently display the Ivanka Trump name, and there can be no confusion as to the source of the Ivanka Trump sandals. Therefore, Marc Fisher Footwear, the licensee of the Ivanka Trump brand, strongly denies Lam’s claims.”
Ouch. BURN.
And so the battle of wedges continues…
