Shopping celebration: DNA Footwear Williamsburg 1 year Anniversary

Wednesday, October 24th, 2012

Due to Hurricane Sandy, please note that this event has been canceled.

Coffee shops, street music, an abundance of the best thrift stores, little boutique gems, and a gaggle of artsy residents bizarrely wearing the latest fashion trends, Williamsburg is indeed the unofficial East Coast birthplace of hipsterism, so called by Forbes.

It has already been a year since this eccentric and strangely charming neighborhood has welcomed DNA Footwear’s fifth location. The welcome is as warm as its beginnings, and as a way to thank all of you, we are inviting you for an exclusive shopping event on Tuesday, November 13th.

In collaboration with Brooklyn Brewery and Brooklyn designer, Samantha Pleet, collaborator of the Wolverine 1000 Mile collection, DNA’s rustic-chic location will be feted with a beers & bites shopping event, complete with live music, giveaways, shoe raffles & a 20% discount on most brands!

Certainly an event that should not be missed, join DNA employees, loyal customers, and footwear representatives on this meaningful occasion.

This event is open to all, be sure to RSVP at We look forward to seeing you there!

Kid’s Style: Winter Accessories

Tuesday, January 3rd, 2012

kids accessories

First, we have to start by saying, “Does it get any cuter than this?!” No, seriously that chunky face, that little happy innocence, the hat! Nothing is cuter than a fat little nugget, okay maybe a fat little nugget WITH a winter hat!

You’re not the only one that needs to keep warm this winter, your tiny tots are even more susceptible to a winter cold. This winter, your kids will not only keep warm but keep warm in style with the help of DNA and UGG Australia who have a wide variety of hats, scarves, mittens, and earmuffs just for them!

Disclaimer: Please also put a shirt on your baby. A hat without a shirt really defeats the purpose.

Drab to Fab: Upgrade Your Winter Wardrobe

Monday, January 2nd, 2012

Leave your winter woes behind because it’s time to go from drab to fab and upgrade your winter wardrobe. Long gone are the days of boring blacks — welcome fur and prints into your wardrobe.

Forget the plain rain boots and opt for a bold print such as these Kamik floral Heather boots. That also means it’s time to say good bye to your black “cankle” boots and slip on a cozy fur-lined pair of Sorels, which are ever-so-popular amongst the celebs this year. Feel like staying in for a cozy night of reading? Do it in style with UGG Australia slip-ons. Not the quiet night in type? Put on your high heel fur-trimmed BC boots and you’re ready to go!

Isn’t it time you took your closet from drab to fab?!

Shoe Collaboration Dreams

Thursday, December 29th, 2011

What would happen if UGG Australia and Giuseppe-Zanotti fell in love and had shoe babies or if Miu Miu was mad for Converse? While we don’t see any of these designers collaborating in the near future, it is fun to imagine what it would be like if our favorite brands paired up.

Ten years ago, major design houses would have laughed in your face had you suggested collaborating with another, yet today designer collaborations are common place. From designers buddying up to designers and fashion chains linking lines, designer collaborations rake in the big bucks. So why not let Frye and Sam Edelmen get cozy?!

Footwear Lover Stocking Stuffer

Thursday, December 15th, 2011

stocking stuffer

While we are as tired of holiday gift guides as you are, we can’t forget that empty stocking so nicely hung on your mantle. You bought their favorite sneakers, boots, and pumps but how could you forget the accessories to match?! Every shoe lover deserves at least one (or all) of the items listed in our stocking stuffer guide.

{1} No footwear lover can be without Jason Markk’s shoe cleaning kit, so nearly organized and packed perfectly with every goodie necessary.

{2,4} While they may seem ho-hum to you, the shoe afficianado needs their socks and UGG Australia gloves come winter.

{3,5,6,9} Any girl who has agonized in heels can understand the need for foot petals, LiftKits, FootzyRolls, and OUCH! shoe-lover bandaids.

{7,8} Without the much-needed footwear support & first-aid, the shoe-love in your life will need to turn to a nice glass of STLTO (Always a Perfect Fit) and the highly-coveted Jimmy Choo XV book.

Give the gift of footwear (accessories) this season and keep their stockings stuffed.

DNA Footwear Williamsburg Launch Party

Friday, December 9th, 2011

It was a memorable night filled with footwear, friends, and food celebrating the grand opening of DNA Footwear’s Williamsburg store location. Surrounded by vintage chic interior designs, DNA employees, valued customers, and footwear representatives ate, drank, and danced the night away in celebration of  Daniel Kahalani’s, DNA Footwear’s CEO, newest achievement.

In Kahalani’s mind’s eye he envisioned DNA Footwear as a “shoe heaven”, providing shoe brands and styles that fit a variety of tastes and budgets. The vision became an overwhelming success with the company’s first location in Bensonhurst, where Kahalani created a shoe “community”.  This shoe “community” expanded to an online presence and additional locations in Park Slope, Carrol Gardens, and now Williamsburg.

The Williamsburg DNA Footwear location has found its niche in Brooklyn where the trendsetters and trend makers flock to shop. With its rustic-chic vintage charm and vast selection, the Williamsburg store is truly one of a kind.

Always looking towards the future, Daniel Kahalani foresees opening future locations beyond Brooklyn into New York City and possibly in other cities across the country. Alike to his other store locations, he will continue in his effort to inspire and deliver the best in service, selection, style, and quality.

If you were unable to attend the holiday launch party please come visit our newest DNA Footwear location at 133 N. 7th St. Brooklyn, NY 11211 and shop the latest in footwear.

{Special thanks to all of our sponsors including Bed:Stu, UGG, Toms, Sorel, Seychelles, Cork Ease, Timberland, Bogs, and more! Additional thanks goes out to Kristen Ortiz, the mastermind behind the event.}

Holiday Gift Guide (Part Six): Footwear for Kids

Monday, December 5th, 2011

gift guide

If you want your little girl to grow up and be a ballerina, she needs a pair of sparkly flats. If you want your little boy to grow up and be a sailor, he needs the perfect boat shoes. If you want your little girl to be Nicole Richie she needs boho chic moccasin boots. Whatever you want your child to grow up to be (even if it’s a celebrity with an eye for style…no judgement), they have to dress the part. It may seem slightly absurd to the average parent — you know the ones who still wear mom jeans — but if you take care in your child’s appearance he or she will too in the future.

Take this holiday season as the time to help your child find comfort, durability, and style. How well a shoe fits and how long it lasts is of key importance when it comes to children’s shoes so spend the extra time to research brands like UGG, Timberland, Ralph Lauren. While you may know how well these brands fit adults, ask yourself if they know what works best for children as well.

gift guide

The holidays are a special time of year, especially for the wee  tots who believe in the spirit of December. Surprise your little ones this season with DNA Footwear and watch as they unwrap mini shoes (and nothing is cuter than mini shoes).

Spoil them with new kicks, boots, sneakers, slippers, and clogs. From UGG Australia to the ever-so-popular Yo Gabba Gabba! Vans, your children will be the most stylish ones on the playground. The others will gawk in awe as they swing higher and higher on the swing set new shoes wooshing in the wind!

Don’t let Suri Cruz be the only mini-fashionista anymore!

Holiday Gift Guide (Part Two): Footwear For Him

Tuesday, November 29th, 2011

men's shoes

The holidays are in full swing and we are onto Part Two of our ‘Holiday Gift Guide’ and today it’s all for the men in your life, whether it’s your brother, father, friend, or boyfriend. Dressing your best should be equally as important to men as it is to women and we’re helping men put their best foot forward (pun intended) this year.

From Frye to UGG Australia and every Timberland and Bed:Stu inbetween, your guys will be ready for every event. Often times men wear one pair of shoes over and over until there is no life left in their already plain sneakers — break this footwear cruelty cycle! Give them the gift of boots, sneakers, and slippers this season.
