First lady Michelle Obama and her daughters have become much more than just the president’s family; they are also some of America’s most admired fashion icons. While touring Africa, the Obama girls did a lot of sight-seeing as well as charity work, at all times looking flawless and appropriate. During one of their charity trips, Malia Obama sported the Native Jefferson Sneaker in lemonade yellow. Even at the age of ten, Malia has her mom’s superb sense of style, and she paired the sneakers with a hot pink pair of pants and a mustard cardigan.
The Native Jefferson sneaker is a great summer alternative to stuffy restrictive summer sneakers. With a similar old-school look to the Converse All-Star sneakers, the Jefferson doesn’t require anyone to wear socks, and its perforated rubber upper makes it just as refreshing as it is water-proof. There is no question that the Obama ladies know how to dress to impress. Not only is the Jefferson a great summer shoe practically, but it comes in a sweeping six color options to match your personal style. So to look like America’s smartest fashionistas and keep your feet happy this summer, opt for the Native Jefferson Sneaker!

Summer is all about comfort and practicality. For that reason, when putting together a summer wardrobe, one must choose pieces that are versatile, comfortable, and that project a relaxed vibe. A staple item in everyone’s closet should be a good pair of flat shoes to wear with any summer outfit. Our favorite pick is the Yosi Samra Flat!

 Sarah Jessica Parker
New York City’s number one fashionista is, without a doubt, Sarah Jessica Parker. As Carrie Bradshaw in the hit series Sex and the City, she became New York’s “it” girl and trend-setter. This summer, SJP has been spotted rocking a pair of white sandals reminiscent of clogs. One of her favorite items, these Bohemian-inspired sandals add a touch of fun to any outfit while keeping it glamorous. You can get Sarah Jessica Parker’s look with the Luxury Rebel Kessy Sandal.
Like SJP’s, the Kessy sandal features a white leather upper and a clog-like heeled sole. Like Sarah Jessica Parker does, these sandals can be paired with anything from jeans to summer dresses. Stars love tasseled heels
One of our favorite summer trends is tasseled heels. Spotted on stars like Kristen Bell and Blake Lively, this off-the-runway trend has been quickly spreading over Hollywood. We love the tasseled heel, a new and creative way to add more detail to a shoe. We’re over studs, cutouts and hardware; it is now all about the retro glamor of tassels. The stand-out tasseled heel of the season is the Jeffrey Campbell Ripple high heel sandal.
At four-and-a-half inches high, the Ripple embodies style through and through. Featured in both brown and nude luxury leather, this sandal adds understated glamor to any outfit. It has a very thick heel, which allows you to be comfortable even though they are extremely high. The Ripple sandals can be paired up with a simple pair of jeans or a cute summery dress. They are casual, so you can look stylish and fabulous every day. For that fresh and vintage summer look, get on the tassel train, and go for the Jeffrey Campbell Ripple.

The long nights and gentle temperatures are conducive to throwing the perfect park, deck or patio party that won’t leave you shivering in your cocktail dress. There are just a few key secrets to keep in mind when finding the perfect summer cocktail party shoe. First, keep the shoe appropriate for both the indoors and outdoors. Here are a few shoes that fit all of our summer cocktail criteria and more:

The best part of summer music is that concerts often migrate from within the confines of tiny venues to the vast, sunny open air of outdoor shows and music festivals. From East Coast to West Coast, from a Central Park concert series to Seattle’s Bumbershoot Festival and everything in between, music enthusiasts everywhere are moving their parties outside. Soak in the sun and absorb your favorite music at the same time without worrying about fashion by checking out our top picks for summer concert footwear.
The key to finding the most concert-friendly footwear is to seek out a combination of edge and comfort. You’ll also need to keep your feet cool while offering your toes protection from a careless or overly-enthusiastic crowd. If it seems impossible to dream up a shoe that embodies all of these qualities at once, look to our Seychelle’s Comp Flat Shoe for inspiration. Equal parts charming and protective, the comp flat shoe projects a delicate vibe while boasting a tough leather exterior, ready to save your toes from wayward dancing feet.

For an even breezier choice that still keeps your feet firm and secure, try the Women’s Lilou Flat Sandal. This versatile leather sandal comes in a variety of colors and can be paired with anything from shorts to a sundress. The charm-bracelet embellishment adds some spark to a simple, versatile style.

So go take advantage of one of the best parts of summer and find tickets to your favorite festival, outdoor symphony, or casual folk band. No matter where you go, with these shoes you’ll be sure to stand out in the crowd!

April showers have finally left us, so as the sun is chasing away those last pesky lingering clouds, our most pressing style dilemma now becomes how to best set free our toes from the confines of their rain boot prisons. Whether you’re a simple flip-flops and flats kind of gal, or whether dressier wedges and strappy sandals are your thing, grab your brightest nail polish and rejoice, because your choices for summer footwear are just as diverse as they are for ice cream. And your one stop shop for all the flavors of summer? BC Footwear.

With the bold style of a heel, but the comfort of a ballet flat, the Gone Fishin Sandal epitomizes playfulness and is nothing short of reelin’ good fun. Whether you choose to go for the louder peachy salmon or the more sophisticated black leather, these flirtatious flats are sure to add some spunk to a casual jean or legging.

BC also takes its own spin off the latest craze – the gladiator sandal – with its Conch Flat and Iced Tea Sandals. These fascinating strappy sandals are worth every awkward tan line, for style that doesn’t sacrifice comfort. The shimmery elastic straps of the Iced Tea Sandals hug every curve of the foot to guarantee no slippage, and the minimal thick single buckled straps of the Conch secure and flatter the foot, adding up to a perfect mixture of youthfulness and elegance. Either style could class up a simple denim or linen pant or tone down a hot little dress or even complement a flowy sundress or summer short.
And for the times those toes need to escape the limelight, there is the new Grilled Cheese Flat – a genius amalgam of boat shoe prep and golden goddess glam rolled into one comfortable and versatile loafer. This cool combination struts a fine line between understated and head-turner, so pair accordingly. Or if you prefer that your femininity be even less subtle, check out the Milkshake Mid Wedge, the apparent lovechild of a top-sider and a white rubber wedge.
Ahoy, matey! Now you’re ready to set sail for summer in style.
