On January 18, 2012,  Nike announced that the beloved Converse corporation will launch several collections of skate shoes in Spring 2012.  As part of the Converse Skate Ambassador Collection, pro skaters Nick Trapasso, Anthony Pappalardo and Kenny Anderson will each have shoes released on February 1st, 2012 .

Partnering with the professional skaters was inevitable — Trapasso started his own company, Life Extension Skateboards, along with fellow skater Patrick Pasquale. “Trapasso’s signature shoe is called the CONS Trapasso Pro and will feature a multi-density sock liner and full memory foam collar that are designed to conform to the skater’s feet” (Yahoo). Trapasso’s Converse will be available in either suede or leather and either black and white or gray and cranberry, while Pasquale’s will be canvas or suede, available in brown and black or gray and red. Anderson’s skate shoes, the KA-ONE, will “come in black and red, red and parchment, parchment and white, black and white as well as black and parchment” (Yahoo).

With so many materials and colors to choose from, skaters are sure to do their next ollie in style (whatever an ollie is….).

valentines day

Love is in the air and Valentine’s Day is quickly approaching. For all of you coupled up (*gag*), remember that a couple that shops together stays together.

Whether you’re having a  snowball fight, rocking out at a concert, enjoying a dinner for two, or making googly eyes at a gala, we’ve got shoes to fit your Valentine’s date needs. While we aren’t huge advocates of being matchy-matchy, if any day is the day to be cliche Valentine’s Day is it! So ladies, convince your men to care about style for one day for the sake of Cupid and all things pink and red.

Men’s Style: As Seen On….Californication

hank moody

For those who may not know, Hank Moody is the main character of the show Californication and is the smoothest ladies man currently on television.  So what’s Hanks story?

Occupation: Writer

Signature look: Black T Shirt and dark denim jeans paired with a sport jacket (Dressed Up) up or a leather jacket (Casual) and of course his signature sunglasses and Blundstone boots.

The Hank Moody look is easily achievable with the help of Blundstone, but whether or not it’ll improve your robot-like approach to women is whole other story.

The Perfect Pair: Men’s Style

Wednesday, January 4th, 2012

men's fashion

For months now we’ve focused on the ‘Perfect Pair’ of shoes for women and today it’s the man’s turn. Pair the perfect FRYE combat boots for a day in the city or one in the wilderness (how manly!).

For the city boy: Match your Frye Rogans with deep green pants and a simple silkscreen print tee. Since you aren’t exactly the man-bag kind of guy, accessorize with a simple black and white watch.

For the rugged outdoorsman: Thermal pants, a knit sweater, and a weatherproof coat go best with your black boots. Since you’re so “manly” man-cessorize with a metal hinged cuff.

The Perfect Pair: Men’s Combo Pack

Tuesday, January 3rd, 2012

men's fashion

Most men need a little “guidance” in the fashion department, that’s why we’ve come up with a brief  ”combo pack” guide. Unlike women, men need socks daily and often have little to no idea how to mix and match their boot/shoe and sock combinations (we understand, it’s confusing).

If you aren’t the bold type, stick with grays and blacks, but if you’re feeling adventurous add a print in the mix — you’ll stand out and you’re sure to get compliments from the ladies (Possibly men too. We can’t guarantee anything). Start off simple and work your way to prints because it is not the easiest task even for the oldest fashion aficionado.

Kickin’ It Old School

Wednesday, December 28th, 2011

high-topsLeave the holiday party attire behind because today we’re kickin’ it old school with high-tops. According to Converse, between 1948-1958 high top sneakers made their first appearance on the fashion scene.

With the invention of Rock & Roll came the Rock & Roll “uniform” consisting of jeans, a leather jacket, and of course…high-top sneakers. Around the time the high-top sneaker was introduced so was The National Basketball Association, growing up together in fashion/sport unison.

Today, the high-top sneaker can still be seen among teens and young adults — a classic that lives on.

Men’s Style: Boots with Attitude

Tuesday, November 29th, 2011

Just arriving at platform 9¾  from the Brooklyn Station is the Men’s Offbeat Ankle Boot – Black Rustic by: Bed:Stu. Meticulously hand-crafted and fresh from their creative little hands in their design studio and warehouse in Bedford Stuyvesant. Like the Rocky Horror Picture Show, Bed:Stu boasts it’s own cult following with its fans. Their boots are a little like their prospective owners, distressed, worn, soft, comfortable and one of a kind.

Because of Bed:Stu‘s organic tanning process, all of their shoes have different characteristics which give each piece it’s own individuality and identity, making it authentic just like you. You get the feeling looking at the Men’s Offbeat Ankle Boot, with it’s classic styling and it’s unapologetic attitude, that you don’t choose the boot; they choose you (A bit like the scene where Harry Potter goes to the wand shop to get a new wand).

These Men’s Offbeat Ankle Boots are built to last a lifetime, with proper care, and can be handed down to their rightful heirs. What the hell, if you love them that much, take them with you!
