The man can do no wrong — Karl Lagerfeld, the “king” of fashion, never fails to amaze us with his many styling and design talents (not to mention the 30 iPads he carries with him at all times). Lagerfeld’s diffusion line, Karl, launched January 25th and is sold exclusively online at Net-a-Porter. Alike to his own personal style, the budget collection features black and white clothing and accessories retailing from $50 for a canvas tote to aprox. $1,000 for leather pieces. As to be expected, Karl’s trademark fingerless leather gloves make an appearance as do fabulous faux colors. Among the 70-piece collection are 8 pairs of shoes, from metallic sneakers to gladiator sandals, the footwear is simple yet impressive. We can handle the trademark Karl profile on the tees and tanks, but what about the shoes?! Walking with the support of Lagerfeld on your soles would sure put a pep in our step (we’re just sayin…it’s suggestion for the next collection). While we covet designer brands like Burberry, our budgets don’t exact always match our taste (ok, so they NEVER do). Thank god for brands such as Jeffrey Campbell who save our footwear dreams from crumbling! Don’t be confused with our other daily post about copyright infringement because there are some obvious differences between the $895 Burberry’s and the $199.99 Jeffrey Campbell’s: One. The Burberry wedges only have one buckle (you’d think for more money, they’d have more buckles but hey what do we know?!) Two. The cut of the ankle is different with the Burberry showing off more skin.. Ooo La La! Three. The outsole and midsole of the Jeffrey Campbell wedges are flat. Four. Save Baby Elephants with SUNO KicksThursday, December 8th, 2011Not all of us can afford SUNO’s ridiculously expensive collections, but now you too can be part of the SUNO cult. Sport the latest in footwear trends with the SUNO lace-up, slip-on, canvas, colorful printed sneakers. If you’re not sold on the playful print, maybe telling you that the soles are made from recycled rubber will sell you on them. Still not sold? How about this: All the sneakers are made in Kenya and a portion of the proceeds benefits the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, an orphanage for baby elephants and rhinos. In discussing the lower priced ($65) kicks, designers Max Osterweis and Erin Beatty stated, “By doing this we can further our company’s mission to create jobs within Kenya, and by using excess fabric from past productions we can make darn cute shoes at a really attractive price. And we’re helping baby elephants.” If you don’t want to ruin the environment and kill thousands of baby elephants and rhinos then you have to buy them. No seriously, BUY THEM. Black Friday: CHECK. Cyber Monday: CHECK. Now, time to get back to the Brand of the Day 30% off sales, starting today with Kickers. One year prior to their foundation in 1970, founder Daniel Raufast came across a poster of the world famous show “Hair” and was intrigued by the featured youth. Noting that the jean-clad people on the poster were pictured barefoot, Daniel decided it was time to create footwear for the jean-wearer. In other words, Daniel sought out to create a style of shoes compatible with denim.
