Shopping celebration: DNA Footwear Williamsburg 1 year Anniversary

Wednesday, October 24th, 2012

Due to Hurricane Sandy, please note that this event has been canceled.

Coffee shops, street music, an abundance of the best thrift stores, little boutique gems, and a gaggle of artsy residents bizarrely wearing the latest fashion trends, Williamsburg is indeed the unofficial East Coast birthplace of hipsterism, so called by Forbes.

It has already been a year since this eccentric and strangely charming neighborhood has welcomed DNA Footwear’s fifth location. The welcome is as warm as its beginnings, and as a way to thank all of you, we are inviting you for an exclusive shopping event on Tuesday, November 13th.

In collaboration with Brooklyn Brewery and Brooklyn designer, Samantha Pleet, collaborator of the Wolverine 1000 Mile collection, DNA’s rustic-chic location will be feted with a beers & bites shopping event, complete with live music, giveaways, shoe raffles & a 20% discount on most brands!

Certainly an event that should not be missed, join DNA employees, loyal customers, and footwear representatives on this meaningful occasion.

This event is open to all, be sure to RSVP at events@dnafootwear.com. We look forward to seeing you there!

Four hot designer collections for Fashion Week

Thursday, September 13th, 2012

With Fashion Week taking over the Lincoln Center in New York City, fashionistas from all around the world are ruling the streets of the American fashion capital. Exhibiting their most high-fashion clothing pieces from fall 2012 runways, we’ve been keeping an eye on their soles.

Since DNA Footwear is always on the hunt to find you the perfect shoes (that won’t make your addiction any better!), we are adding some serious appeal to our designer brands collection! For all fashion connoisseurs, Jessica Simpson, Elizabeth and James, Rachel Zoe, and Dr Martens are some of few brands that just hit our stores with their fall collections. In addition, you will soon be able to shop 1000 miles by Samantha Pleet and for our gentlemen; two men collections featuring The Damned by Jeffrey Campbell and MJUS.

While one of the most influential forces in fashion today was presenting her new collection on the runway at New York Fashion Week yesterday, we were working on getting her styles ready to shop. The infamous Rachel Zoe will make you want to stockpile your shoe closet with ankle boots, flats, and platforms pumps.

We’ve got our hands on these fabulous booties that will make you feel like you’ve always been that uptown girl with a touch of casual style!

Celebrity: Elizabeth and James Wishlist

Elizabeth and James Collection

It’s brands like these that make my job excruciatingly painful. The gorgeous elegance of textured, pattern heavy combinations mixed throughout the Elizabeth and James collection makes a girl want what she can’t have. Fusing  an uptown chic with downtown couture, colorful accents and masculine cuts, Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen have yet again released double trouble for my pocket book.

Vintage x Retro x  Modern, from shoes to accessories this collection turns the fashion conscious head spinning. Luxuriously modern in approach the twins have managed to capture classic elegance with contemporary cool. A bit pricey for the average consumer but each piece speaks loudly, so splurging every once in awhile with this brand will keep your closet up to date. Above are my SOME of my favorites and there is much more coming from the Spring collection. Included in DNA’s New Arrivals is a pair of the E-Clair Colorblock  High Heel Sandal.

Shoe Brands: Seychelles

Friday, March 2nd, 2012

Leap year has us springing forward for Seychelles’ sophisticated silhouettes and nostalgic nudes. With the Investigate bow-top flats or the Case Closed suede wedges you’ll be solving New York’s latest mystery: where did that snowy Winter go?

Make way for Spring cleaning and replace grey skies with Seychelles’ Haven’t Got a Worry heels in Grey or go nude with the platform sandals in Vacchetta. Embrace the breeze and let your toes breathe.

If you’re not quite ready to let your toes out but have Good Intentions, the T-Strap wedges will keep things fun and flirty with a hatched, closed-toe  in Orange or Black leather. Accented with a four and a half inch wooden wedge and comfy cushioned footbeds these versatile sandals are just the right fit for any occasion.

Seychelles’ classic elegance offers a lavish selection to put that Spring back in your step for the changing of the seasons. With mysteries solved, no worries and good intentions march into March as a natural beauty and you’ll be sure to attract the bees.

Designer Spotlight: NewbarK

Monday, January 30th, 2012

newbarK

What gal doesn’t heart cute shoes? Designers and sisters Maryam and Marjan Malakpour literally “heart them” for their spring NewbarK collection.

As a stylist, I’m always looking for unique shoes for photoshoots, as well as fashionable and comfortable ones for my own busy feet. So, when I came across this fairly new shoe line from fellow stylists, it made sense that these two would transition into shoe design.

NewbarK is a luxury collection of handmade shoes and handbags, originally launched in 2009 by the Malakpour sisters. Crafted in an artisan factory in Los Angeles, NewbarK shoes and handbags exemplify a streamlined yet contrasting use of materials – leather, canvas, felt, suede and virtually no hardware, making these shoes chic, simple and modern.

You’ll heart these flats: they fold neatly into a small carrying pouch for the city girl on the go. With an aesthetic of Moroccan baboush meets Englishman’s leather slippers, they’re a sophisticated and stylish alternative to ballet flats. Think of them as the grown up version of your weekend shoe.

Trend Alert: Pretty Punk — Botanical Beauties

Monday, January 30th, 2012

floral

Gawking in awe at Spring prints, New Yorkers wonder when we’ll get the chance to brighten our wardrobe with botanical beauties. We won’t be able to live with ourselves come spring if we don’t find some way to incorporate florals into our wardrobe without looking like a 16-year old teenybopper with a propensity for Lisa Frank.

You have two options when it comes to florals: you can go the feminine route with flats or flatforms or you could add some edge to balance out the dainty dresses with combat boots. When it comes to accessorizing your florals play with prints but be careful because print on print can go terribly wrong (we don’t need you coming back crying to us because you made a fashion fail).

Footwear News: Halle Berry Launches Shoe Collection

Monday, January 30th, 2012

halle berry shoes

Apparently having a shoe collection is the new “IT” thing to do; it feels like every day we report that some celebrity or reality star wants an in with the fashion industry.  One such celebrity is Halle Berry, who is quickly becoming a woman of all trades. The actress slash Revlon spokeswoman teamed up with popular German retailer Deichmann Shoes to create her own line:  ’5th Avenue by Halle Berry’ collection.

Fitting for women her age (we mean that in the kindest way possible), the collection features fairly low heels and wedges, mixing comfort and style for the modern mom. Boasting 40 limited edition shoes, Berry is proud of the new baby in her life, her shoe line. In discussing her new endeavor she said,

“Shoes are a statement. They can be very sexy; they can say something about where you are in the day; they can say what your mood is; they give you a chance to accessorize. And I’m a girl that loves to change my shoes all the time. It’s an expression of who you are really. I’m a girl if I find a shoe that I really like I like to get them in all colours. I’m big on that.”

With the reasonable starting price of £29.99, budget savvy mothers are eagerly awaiting the UK launch in March.
