Collaboration Alert: Tsubo for Timo Weiland Spring 2012

Thursday, December 22nd, 2011

tsubo

If you weren’t at New York Fashion Week, then you might just be out of the footwear loop so let us recap what you NEED to know. Tsubo partnered up with emerging designer Timo Weiland to create a 7-piece capsule collection for their women’s Spring 2012 footwear line.

According to Tsubo Brand Manager, Jason Mora, “Timo Weiland has been on our radar for a long time. We were looking for an emerging designer with a similar aesthetic, who could incorporate his unique signature into our line, while still remaining true to Tsubo’s heritage. We’re very excited to debut our first collaborative collection with the Timo Weiland design house.”

Inspired by the romance between an Italian military commander and the daughter of an Italian seamstress during the 1930s, the collection features chunky demi-wedges and flatforms. Military theme — CHECK. Straps that look like club wristbands — CHECK. Wait, how are those ideas cohesive?!

We’ll look past the random wristband snap and continue to covet this collection. If Santa is listening, please add this to your IOU list because these babies won’t be released until January.

Footwear Collaboration: Moschino + Net-A-Porter

Thursday, December 8th, 2011

net-a-porter

Crafted in collaboration with Net-A-Porter, Moschino Cheap and Chic’s playfully printed patent-rubber boots are just what you need for wet winter weather. Creatively named “Wet-A-Porter”, these black and red rain boots are reasonably priced at only $170. Sold exclusively on Net-A-Porter, they have already been featured on a handful of fashion blogs today alone so expect them to sell out quickly.

While we typically approve of Net-A-Porter outfit creations, the above outfit paired with the “Wet-A-Porter” boots is too matchy-matchy for our liking. Keep the skinny jeans and striped t-shirt but ditch the red jacket, instead keep warm with a blazer or army jacket. Any way you wear these wellies, you’re sure to stand out among a sea of umbrellas and galoshes.

Footwear News: Manolo Goes Green

manolo

It’s not too often you see a high-end designers make anything eco-friendly, but Manolo Blahnik recently announced a new eco-friendly line that is sure to please!

Manolo Blahnik recently teamed up with award winning, eco-friendly fashion designer, Marcia Patmos to create Earth-conscious sandals for spring, based on Manolo Blahnik classics.

These sandals, styles including heels and flats, are made of raffia and cork, as well as discarded Tilapia skin — all of which are considered sustainable materials. The styles available are the double-strap flat as well as a gorgeous, sophisticated open-toed pump. Both styles come in a combination of fluorescent yellow, ecru, black, and electric blue.

In discussing the collaboration, designer Marcia Patmos said, “I am always researching sustainable materials and developments. I love the idea of tilapia skin because it is a by-product of the food industry that would otherwise be discarded, but it’s actually a beautiful material perfect for small leather goods. I love bringing the idea of sustainability into the luxury market — it doesn’t have to be limited to T-shirts and grocery bags.”

These luxurious, unique sandals will be available in Manolo Blahnik stores in 2012, retailing at $895 a pair.

The story of this shoe dream:

“The idea was born at a Linda Farrow/Velour magazine event’ explains SIX’s Ben Demiri, ‘we were at this party and we wondered how we might celebrate our upcoming birthday, ten years of SIX. And we came up with the idea of a fun collaboration. We thought about teaming up with a brand, but then it hit us, the fashion blogs we love, the ones we read every day like so many other people, they were the perfect way to bring SIX to our customers.’ And so the SIX team sought out their favourite bloggers and invited them to each design a limited edition shoe in celebration of the footwear studio’s anniversary, to be sold exclusively on sixlondon.com and farfetch.com.”

dna footwear

The collaboration that all fashion bloggers have been secretly dreaming about will arrive come February. While this seems like years to wait for your ballerina flatforms, trust us when we say this collaboration between Jeffrey Campbell and Wildfox Couture will be worth the wait!

The collection will consist of sky-high strappy heels, a ’90s-inspired military boot, denim platforms and the soon-to-be best seller ballerina flatforms. The lace-up military boot is called the  “Sgt. Pepper” and is based on the JC classic Stevie shape and a 5.5” heel. The “Ballerina Flat Form”  will be available in pink or white satin with satin ankle ties to match; additionally the “Lone Star”, a 60s inspired sandal with all over white leather and covered heel and the “Dallas”, a peep-toe T-strap in blue denim fabric with a wooden platform and a 6” curved heel finished with a bow at the back will be part of the highly-anticipated collaboration.

Wildfox designers Emily Faulstich and Kimberly Gordon claim they “decided to do the collaboration after a few years of pulling shoes from [Jeffrey Campbell]” for their shoots. Gordon explained that ”it was a shoe love affair from the start, so it just made sense. Sparkle and Shine with Perez Hilton & ShoeDazzle

Friday, November 11th, 2011

Best know for celebrity bashing, gossip columnist Perez Hilton is one of many celebrities that was recently tapped by ShoeDazzle to design charity shoes.  Among Hilton’s “Celebrity Shoe Design Program for Charity”  peers are Kim Kardashian, Kristin Cavallari, and Jenny McCarthy — just to name a few.

The fashion-forward media mogul designed not one but TWO shoes for ShoeDazzle (always trying to top the celebrities). Hilton chose to donate 100% of the profits from both shoes to GLSEN: Gay, Lesbian & Straight Education Network, which addresses LGBT issues in K-12 schools.

According to Look to the Stars, “the first shoe Hilton designed, named “Sparkle,” is a black faux suede pump with silver stud detailing on the heel, platform and dual ankle straps. The second is a casual unisex silver metallic sneaker with stud embellishments and zipper detailing, named “Shine.”  The pump and sneaker will be available on November 11th, exclusively in ShoeDazzle showrooms.”

In discussing the charity collaboration, Perez remarked,  ”I designed one amazing shoe that Carrie Bradshaw would drool over. But I also wanted to make a unisex and sophisticated sneaker that I could wear too! ”

As if Hilton was not charitable enough (never thought I’d be saying that), ShoeDazzle is presenting a further fundraising opportunity to first time clients, Perez Hilton fans and GLSEN supporters: $5 from any first time purchase on ShoeDazzle.com using the code PEREZ at checkout, beginning October 24 – November 15, will be donated to GLSEN as well.

What are you waiting for? Go shop for charity!
