Where Wear: Thanksgiving

Thursday, November 10th, 2011

dna footwear

Thanksgiving is just around the corner, what are you going to wear?!  Obviously, that’s the most important decision other than the turkey, right? This Turkey Day, stick with a neutral footwear pallet that will work with any outfit choice. Who says neutral had to be boring? Whether you’re entertaining at home or headed out for a special dinner, there is a perfect shoe for you:

1. Burr, It’s Cold: So it’s 40 degrees out but rocking Uggs doesn’t seem like the most glamorous thing to wear … enter the Rachel Zoe ‘Audrey’! The high ankle cut of the boot will keep you nice and warm but looking oh-so chic at the same time.

2. Home for the Holidays: Mom may be cooking in her house shoes and Dad, his socks, but you can be comfy and cute with the Dolce Vita ‘Banya’.  The bow adds the perfect girly detail that will have your sister asking: “Where did you get those boots?”.

3. Hostess with the Mostess: Just because your running around getting dinner ready for 20+ people doesn’t mean you can’t do it in style! The Mia ‘Britannia’ flat will add “umph” to any outfit and leopard is hot hot hot right now.

4. Fancy Time: Steal the show with the simple yet sexy Badgley Mischka ‘Hyde’. It’s the perfect holiday shoe that will carry you through New Years and beyond.

5. Out on the Town:  If you’re headed to a posh Thanksgiving dinner then the Steven ‘Mercyy’ will definitely make a statement. The platform will keep you comfortable while you schmooze plus metallic goes with everything!

Now there is no excuse not to look FAB on Thanksgiving!

First it was the leopard and now it’s lace — the DNA blog is filled with feminine detailing today. If leopard print doesn’t fit your fall wardrobe maybe cream and black lace Bass Beatrix ankle boots will.

If you’re feeling edgy but want a dash of femininity, Bass ankle boots are your go-to for a grunge chic look. Balance out the cream and black boots with leather pants, a white blouse, and a peak-a-boo leopard bralette. Make the outfit pop with a neon pink Cambridge satchel accented by a rose gold and tortoise Michael Kors watch and Karen Walker sunnies.

Vintage-inspired with a few delightfully modern updates, the Bass Beatrix ankle boot makes an adorable impression with your all-weather favorites.

Daddy & Me: Tiny Timberland

dna footwear

Nothing is cuter than your shoes in mini version, especially when they are Timberland boots. While Timberland boots were originally created for blue collar workers and your tiny ones aren’t exactly the 9-5 type, playing in the sandbox can be tough work!

We previously featured Timberland on the blog but since these boots are so popular and fly off our shelves we figured why not give it a second go around?!  You’ll be ready to romp around with your little one AND rake the leaf clustered lawn with the Woodbury 93104 Boot and the mini you will be even more stylish in the Crossing Roll-Top Boot in Dark Brown or Wheat .

Keep warm this winter with waterproof Timberland boots, insulated with fleece for extra protection.

Rain, Rain, Go Away!

rain boots dna footwear

The leaves have changed and soon they will coat the ground in a thin layer of red, orange, and yellow, only to be washed away by fall rain storms. If you’re like us, you enjoy the soothing sound of the rain’s pitter patter but detest the thought of venturing into the city in the downpour. While the rain may damper your spirit (pun intended), don’t let it get you down when you have new rain boots to show off.

Whether you’re a man, woman, or a child, kick off your sandals and keep your toes toasty this season with the hottest DNA Footwear rain boots. From Hunter to Native, you’re sure to be in style no matter what pair you purchase.

Don’t sacrifice style for functionality — keep it classy with black or add some flair with bows, buckles, or faux fur.

Halloween Special: Peter Pan Style

Thursday, October 27th, 2011

haloween costume

All you need is trust, a little bit of pixie dust… AND the El Naturalista Dome N765 Mid Heel Mid Calf Boot.

Welcome back to our Halloween Special; this time we are taking a stab at Peter Pan Style with olive green mid calf heeled boots. These fantasy-inspired boots walk an extremely thin line between ready-to-wear and costume (And…if you’re in Williamsburg there is no differentiating the two).

There is no doubt that these boots will stand out when matched with trouser shorts, a peasant top, a gold “collar”, and feather embellished fedora. It is important that when you search for the perfect outfit to match these boots, you stay away from “costume” attire, keeping your clothing choices as chic as possible to balance out the boots. Translation: Stay away from the tights and tunic.

Off to Neverland!

Men’s Style: Re Re Replay

Wednesday, October 26th, 2011

replay

The name “Replay” is closely linked to the brand’s mission and to the man who conceived it in 1978. Apparently, while watching the World Cup Soccer tournament in Argentina, Claudio Buziol saw the word “re-play” flash on the screen for the first time and decided that it would be a perfect name for a clothing line which alluded to the world of vintage by reinterpreting clothing from the past in a contemporary way. Thank god it wasn’t “Rewind or Goooooal” that flashed onscreen!

Replay Footwear is now a leading brand in the world of footwear and offers collections that range from casual to dressy to city to urban. Its spirit and essence maintain the characteristics of the brand that hints at a hand-crafted look that combines real expression and past experience.

If you look closely at the Crom Flat Boot by Replay, these boots look like they’ve been transported from the set of Marlon Brando’s 1953 film The Wild One. So for that Wild One look, team your Crom Flat Boots by Replay with distressed dark blue denims rolled up at the ankle, black leather jacket, white t-shirt, and some aviator glasses.

Triumph motorcycle and 21st century iPod are optional.

Halloween Costume

With the help of DNA Footwear and Jeffrey Campbell you can ride like a cowgirl with the best of them. Halloween is a special time for style savvy shoppers and this year, Jeffrey Campbell is dazzling customers with the Giddy Stud High Wedge Mid Calf Boot .

The Giddy Stud Boot is a play on the typical cowboy boot, stylized with leather and studs. Why trick or treat or party in boring flat boots when you can add a little oomph with a wedge?!

Disclaimer: We do not advise riding a horse in these boots as it could be extremely difficult and not to mention, dangerous!

In Her Shoes: Blogger Edition, Featuring Jeffrey Campbell Litas

Tuesday, October 18th, 2011

Jeffrey Campbell Lita

If you are a fashion journalist or spend hours endlessly surfing blogs, you’re sure to have seen your fair share of Jeffrey Campbell Litas. The sky high wooden platform heels are a a go-to for fashion bloggers, with each and every blog featuring a pair (or two or three) at least once in the past year.

With their lace-up details and higher than high heels, these platform boots have gained quite the cult following and are a Jeffrey Campbell and DNA Footwear best seller. The Litas are available in a wide variety of colors, prints, and fabrics — all of which are sure to tickle your footwear fancy.

While we don’t advise purchasing them if you’re an inexperienced high heel wearer (see our previous ‘How To Walk in High Heels’ Post), those who own a pair of these bad boys earn their ‘ooh and ahhs’ as they catwalk down the streets. Paired with skinny jeans, boyfriend jeans, leggings, skirts, shorts, and dresses (yes they go well with EVERYTHING), Litas teach you not only a thing or two about walking in heels but also about wearing shoes in style!

Don’t believe fashion industry bloggers or us? Buy a pair of Jeffrey Campbell Litas for yourself and see what the hype is all about.

The Perfect Pair: Good Choice

Friday, October 14th, 2011

Good choice

Don’t know how to wear fringed boots? Only DNA can help you find TWO (not just one but TWO) outfit options to pair with your ‘Perfect Pair’ of Good Choice Sundance High Wedge Booties.

Look 1:
Pair your Good Choice wedges with a classic nude cape and deep red leggings for warmth (using the term warmth lightly). Don’t forget to accessorize the outfit with a simple satchel and gold tribal embellished hoops.
Look 2:
Not a cape kind of gal? Make a statement with an army green jumpsuit, woven clutch, and ANOTHER pair of tribal earrings — Apparently we have an affinity for tribal today and so should YOU!
