Trend Tuesday: Hiking Boots

Tuesday, November 1st, 2011

hiking boots

If you follow footwear trends, you know that athletic shoes
are among the top selling in the industry. While this LA native won’t be the
first to pack a sack and hike a hill, I know there are people who
appreciate the great outdoors more so than I ever could. So, pack those bags
(are they called bags or backpacks…I need to brush up on my hiking jargon)
and tie up those boots. Prepare yourself for the fresh air, shining sun,
and…bugs?

While it is difficult for me to admit, hiking is not all
about fashion (shocking I know) and is instead about comfort, support, and
protection. When choosing the right hiking boot you must note the conditions
you will be exposed to; is it a rainy climate, snowing, or easy-to-navigate terrain?
Hiking boots have to be durable, versatile, and weatherproof — musts for the
outdoor adventurist!

You won’t be “over the hill” with these men,
women, AND kid’s boots:

Trend Tuesday: Spike Up Your Life

Tuesday, October 25th, 2011

DNA Footwear

These days, spikes aren’t just for punks, goths, and dog collars. They’re on all the runways and the most daring of fashionistas. From necklaces, to jackets, to purses, and of course, shoes!

Starting at the top are the daring, spike-alicious “Lorissa” by Sam Edelman. Not only are the heels of these shoes bursting with fierce studs and spikes but they also have ferocious faux snake finish. Can you say predatory? These shoes are only for the women who are ready to walk on the majorly wild side.

The “Nevada” by Zigi NY might seem like a shoe that says “I’m stuck up” since you tower above everyone around you and you have a prickly exterior. In reality you’re just channeling your inner Lady Gaga and everybody loves Lady Gaga! So just remember if you look dangerous, smile a lot and be extra nice!

The Jeffrey Campbell “Elegant” seems like the kind of loafer that Elvis would wear if he was living today. These rocking shoes are heavy metal and gender bending, buy a pair for yourself or your boyfriend or else he might end up trying to steal them when you’re not looking!

Trend Tuesday: Strap Yourself In

Tuesday, October 18th, 2011

shoe trend

Traditionally, strappy shoes have been associated with formal wear but today’s teeny weeny, itsy bitsy, strappy stilettos aren’t just for weddings! Spice up your everyday grocery shopping outfit, bring some style to the office, or steal the show wherever you are by showing maximum foot skin!

The Bebe “Banan II” takes the basic, minimal strappy sandal up a few notches with a bright pop of color and a surprising ombre heel. This hot little number is on sale right now so be sure to grab your size before they’re gone.

“Glow” by Charles David are the epitome of the sexy, skinny,  stilettos. This is a fantastic example of less is more and less shoe means more leg. The delicate straps give the shoes a sweet, femininity, which balances the “slinky-ness” of the black lace, spike heel.

For ladies who like all things gilded, take a peek at “Marika” by Ivanka Trump. These two toned beauties are business up front and party in the back, just right for your business or party!

Trend Tuesday: Go Nude

Tuesday, October 11th, 2011

Nude High Heels

If all the stylists said you should go nude, would you? Well you should! Nude shoes look great on everyone with a variety of different shades available to match your skin here at DNA Footwear. When your heels blend with your legs, it elongates them AND there is no color that nude clashes with, so you can wear them with anything!

The Charles Jourdan “Candice” heels, have an oh-so-professional point contrasted by a sassy 4 inch heel. These shoes can literally be worn with anything, seriously, I dare you to find something they don’t look great with!

For an open toe variation to keep your piggies ventilated, try the Chinese Laundry “Hotness”. They really are the hotness with a 1 inch platform and a 5 1/4th inch heel for maximum leg lengthening.

Cahoot” by L.A.M.B. takes the standard nude pump up a notch with a surprisingly squared toe combined with a spiked heel and a platform. You might love these comfy, durable, heels so much that you’ll want two—and you can because they come in black as well.

Trend Tuesday: Cowgirl Kicks

Tuesday, October 4th, 2011

Need something cute for your next bonfire, hayride, or wine tasting? Try some western inspired boots!

The Mia “Triall” is a fun, slouchy cowgirl boot and the Frye “Taylor” has the classic western boot appeal and would look just as cute with a peasant skirt as they would with your skinny jeans. Finally, for the girl who doesn’t like traditional, the “Giddy” boots by Jeffrey Campbell bring all kinds of spice to the western boot with studs, a hidden wedge, and a kick of western color.
