The Fabulous FortiesMonday, July 9th, 2012One of the biggest inspirations for fall 2012 fashion is the 1940’s, an era of simple elegance. Designers such as John Galliano, Jason Wu and Jenny Packman (who’s forties-inspired makeup was done with Laura Mercier’s Cinema Noir Fall 2012 Makeup Collection – a collection which brings the 1940‘s makeup back) all featured collections that celebrated the glamorous era. In the forties, fashion was simplified, clean and non-complex, due primarily to the war and its effect on fabric availability. 1940’s fashion displayed the strength of that time and effortless styling. But while hemlines got higher, heel heights remained moderately low.
