Techno tribal meets natural beauty seems to be the way of the fashion warrior this 2012 spring/summer and as I start to plan my wardrobe for Coachella I am not opposed to this movement. The peaceful hues combined with clashing patterns has me at odds with my paycheck trying to determine which shoes and accessories should be accumulated from now ’til then. The time has come to retrograde our cosmos of a closet for a new age of Native American attire and accessories.
Trendy tribes around the globe have returned to their design roots during the Age of Aquarius. Pulling inspiration from our ancestors by way of South Western routes and South American regions, woven Native nuances and tribal accents are being incorporated by designers all over the fashionable lands.
Everything from shoes to belts and blankets, backpacks and apparel are being decorated with the indigenous markings adding depth to our excavation of modern artifacts. One brand familiar for their Navajo niche is Pendleton. Their Southwestern collaborations with multiple companies range from bags to dog beds and have become overwhelmingly popular with carriers such as Urban Outfitters.
South America’s archaic  influence is seen in a variety of motifs going into Spring with Aztecan zigzags  and jagged symbols reminiscent of Mayan pyramid steps. As modern brands contemporize ancient symbologies and heiroglyphics with a juxtaposition of earth tones and fluorescents, we  have woven shoes like the Joe’s Jeans Trixie Wedge, Chelsea Crews Samba Oxford and Freebird’s Cablo cowboy booties into our DNA.

Anchors Away with Juicy Couture
Warm weather days always bring sailing to mind – granted I am nowhere near any regattas – but at least I can enjoy one aspect of this enjoyable sport – the fashion. Juicy Couture, makers of chic, comfortable and stylish clothes and shoes has some great footwear options for you and your Juicy Girl to complete or accent your nautical look this warm weathered season.

The Gianna Espadrille Ballet Flat in Dark Natural Navy is a chic, striped canvas flat with leather trim adorned with playful pompoms that bring a youthful charm to this classic shoe. Pair these with rolled-up jeans, an airy maxi dress or skirt for a clean, fresh look.
For those who want a similar look but with a bit more height, the Sea High Wedge Sandal in Natural Regal Striped Canvas should be your choice. Featuring a delightful bow and stripes – one of this season’s favorite trends, this 4 inch and 1 1/2 inch platform denim wedge will keep you on trend.
Want a bit of pop of the neon color trend to your nautical look? The Baline Mid Wedge T-Strap Sandal in Nautical Navy features a hot pink stripe along the bottom of the 3 3/4 inch wedge. A great way to showcase the current hot neon trend, these are perfect to pair with any hot pink accessory such as a skinny belt, hot pink earrings or bracelets.
The Juicy Girl in your life will certainly want to look like mommy, the very adorable Bobbi Kid Nautical Flat in Navy Natural Neon Pink will put a smile on her face and have her looking just as stylish as you. With a toe cap in every little girl’s favorite color and precious touches like the grosgrain bow and dual stripes styles, your petite fashionista will certainly look darling.
With these modern classic styles from looks Juicy Couture, your feet will be trend ready even if you may not have your sea legs.

Vans, Converse and UGGS have got the blues…Blue Jeans that is and Lana Del Rey even has a song named after the classic and classy casual wear. With everything from hats to backpacks being accented with denim, many shoe brands have hopped on board.

Transitioning from Winter to Spring can be somewhat intimidating. With festival season arrived, SxSW is taking over Austin and Coachella is just along the horizon, proper denims will have you Rockin’ n Rollin’ or just takin’ a walk along the wild side. You can play dress up with funky chunks from the likes of Steve Madden, Jeffrey Campbell, Rachel Zoe, Report Signature (need I say more?) Â or doll them down in festive flats from Seychelles, Yosi Samra or Gee WaWa.Â

Take the easy route and hide excess winter weight with high wasted acid wash denim shorts or revamp your closet with  a good ol’ trip to the craft store. Taking the vintage approach and cutting up old jeans or studding the seams will enliven a hibernating ensemble but a statement shoe will stick like glue!
WHATEVER you choose, casual denim wear must be accompanied with the right shoes. As this month’s must-have fabric its about time to revisit your closet and double check that you have sufficient footing for every occasion. Festivals or fiestas, damsels in denim are embracing rough and rugged and ready to ride.

It’s brands like these that make my job excruciatingly painful. The gorgeous elegance of textured, pattern heavy combinations mixed throughout the Elizabeth and James collection makes a girl want what she can’t have. Fusing  an uptown chic with downtown couture, colorful accents and masculine cuts, Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen have yet again released double trouble for my pocket book.
Vintage x Retro x  Modern, from shoes to accessories this collection turns the fashion conscious head spinning. Luxuriously modern in approach the twins have managed to capture classic elegance with contemporary cool. A bit pricey for the average consumer but each piece speaks loudly, so splurging every once in awhile with this brand will keep your closet up to date. Above are my SOME of my favorites and there is much more coming from the Spring collection. Included in DNA’s New Arrivals is a pair of the E-Clair Colorblock  High Heel Sandal.

The latest development in the shoe game is being kept on the low, literally. Just getting warmed up by Trendsetters and Go-Getters around the globe are the colorful soles that are being vivaciously supported by brands such as Steve Madden and Mark McNairy. Adding a subtly vibrant color base to neutral bodied basics, dress shoe designers are adding some soul to their soles, spicing up the oh-so boring business attire.
With electric blues and teals, pastel mints, peaches and yellows married against neutrals, these flats have me putting away my heels and lacing up in gem tones and sandstones. Embracing androgyny, the base movement has found a foothold  in both men and women’s wear and will be brightening up the office by mixing the prude professional with a colorful foundation.
Catch the glow from bottom to top this Spring in a pair of brightly based ballroom shoes or boots. Click here to check out my favorite tastemaker sporting Mark McNairy boots trimmed with Orange and Yellow soles and I absolutely heart the soles by Steve Madden pictured above.

In fashion, rarely do you hear designers say “Thick is in” but when it comes to shoes, this has never been more apparent (well maybe since disco and the Spice Girls). As one of today’s most recognizable shoe trends and one of our most popular brands, Jeffrey Campbell’s collections continue to champion the tall and chunky.  JC’s street appeal mixed with high-end allure fuses contrasting characteristics making each pair compatible with multiple personalities. Offering a wide spectrum of designs, patterns, colors and materials, every shoe junky has endless options, from the wild child to the conservative queen and any girl in between.
The name Jeffrey Campbell is now synonymously known for the sky high Lita heeled boots everyone’s been rocking since their release sometime in July 2010. Diversify from the fad followers and get spotted in a new pair of JC’s flirty flats, go green with a Hippie Chic canvas espadrille or bring out the Bohemian Babe with a rustic wooden heel. Having an eye for awe, no matter which Jeffrey Campbell shoe you choose it is guaranteed to draw admirers. So dare to be different and think outside the shoe box!

Two of pop culture’s most iconic male fashion aficionados are reversing their roles and going femme for fashion. Pharrell Williams and Kanye West have a symbiotic closet that oozes cool confidence and contemporary couture. Their attention to detail, from socks to bow-ties have translated to street wear and vintage styles worldwide.
The chicest of women have traditionally donned menswear with classic pant suits and dress shirts. Now with these men leading the way in both demographics, dudes are retiring their tailored duds and stretching lady’s wear to form fit their masculinity while women add a feminine touch to Oxfords, Sperry’s and boots.
Case in Needle-Point: Most recently spotted in an arguably feminine mint green Acne Spring cable knit sweater, Kanye West has been seen on numerous occasions sporting women’s clothes. Pharrell Williams, face of Palladium’s Tokyo Rising and overall trendsetter, is inspired by the female fashionista and will be launching his women’s clothing line, Billionaire Girls Club, later this year. Check out Pharell’s interview with W Magazine to hear his perspective on fashion & art as well as who influences his taste.
If you’re looking to cop some style like these gentlemen, view our selection of Palladium boots for both guys and gals, girls and boys, offered in an array of colors and sizes. To start prepping your schmoozes alongside these Tastemakers at yacht parties and runway sidelines see our collection of Sperry Top-Siders.

Leap year has us springing forward for Seychelles’ sophisticated silhouettes and nostalgic nudes. With the Investigate bow-top flats or the Case Closed suede wedges you’ll be solving New York’s latest mystery: where did that snowy Winter go?
Make way for Spring cleaning and replace grey skies with Seychelles’ Haven’t Got a Worry heels in Grey or go nude with the platform sandals in Vacchetta. Embrace the breeze and let your toes breathe.
If you’re not quite ready to let your toes out but have Good Intentions, the T-Strap wedges will keep things fun and flirty with a hatched, closed-toe  in Orange or Black leather. Accented with a four and a half inch wooden wedge and comfy cushioned footbeds these versatile sandals are just the right fit for any occasion.
Seychelles’ classic elegance offers a lavish selection to put that Spring back in your step for the changing of the seasons. With mysteries solved, no worries and good intentions march into March as a natural beauty and you’ll be sure to attract the bees.

What gal doesn’t heart cute shoes? Designers and sisters Maryam and Marjan Malakpour literally “heart them” for their spring NewbarK collection.
As a stylist, I’m always looking for unique shoes for photoshoots, as well as fashionable and comfortable ones for my own busy feet. So, when I came across this fairly new shoe line from fellow stylists, it made sense that these two would transition into shoe design.
NewbarK is a luxury collection of handmade shoes and handbags, originally launched in 2009 by the Malakpour sisters. Crafted in an artisan factory in Los Angeles, NewbarK shoes and handbags exemplify a streamlined yet contrasting use of materials – leather, canvas, felt, suede and virtually no hardware, making these shoes chic, simple and modern.
You’ll heart these flats: they fold neatly into a small carrying pouch for the city girl on the go. With an aesthetic of Moroccan baboush meets Englishman’s leather slippers, they’re a sophisticated and stylish alternative to ballet flats. Think of them as the grown up version of your weekend shoe.
